Sailie
Built for charter skippers

Your all-in-one sailing companion,
from crew briefing to the log entry

Sailie brings the voyage logbook, live tracking, anchor watch, safety briefing, check-in/out lists, weather and an onboard reference into one app — so onboarding a new charter crew and running the boat doesn't mean juggling a stack of different tools.

Free either way — add the web app to your home screen for one-tap access with no app store needed, or install the Android app for fully background GPS tracking and the anchor alarm.

Everything on the app's home screen

Not another logbook. A whole onboarding kit.

Every section from the app itself, in one place — from live tracking to the onboard reference library.

timeline

Live GPS tracking

Records your route in the background, even with the screen off, then slices it straight into logbook entries as you go. Background recording needs the Android app — the web app tracks while its tab stays open.

anchor

Anchor drag alarm

Set a watch radius and get alerted if you drag outside it, with a swing-track history to review after. Overnight/background alerts need the Android app; the web app works while it's open in the foreground.

map

Nautical map

OpenSeaMap overlays, seamark hazards (rocks, wrecks, buoys, lights), and your sailed track colored by propulsion — sail, engine, or both.

cloud

Weather that fits the region

MeteoAlarm warnings, radar, and Open-Meteo forecasts — automatically using higher-resolution regional models over the Adriatic and Central Europe where they're available.

checklist

Charter check-in / check-out

The handover checklist every charter boat needs — documentation, systems, damage notes — per boat, with history.

health_and_safety

Safety briefing

An interactive, per-boat checklist to brief a new crew on emergency gear and procedures before you cast off.

menu_book

Voyage logbook

Full nautical entries — position, course, wind, sea state, engine — with GPS/map-tap positioning and one-tap weather auto-fill.

sos

MAYDAY card

A ready-to-read VHF distress-call procedure with your vessel, callsign and MMSI already filled in.

sailing

Trips & boats

Organize entries by trip and boat, invite crew with viewer/logger/editor roles, and share a log in real time.

travel_explore

Explore public trips

Browse trips other skippers have made public — real routes, notes and boats — for inspiration on where to sail next.

school

Onboard reference

Boat parts, rope naming, points of sail, COLREG, Beaufort scale, knots, and dinghy handling — for the crew member who's never been on a boat before.

Why Sailie exists

Great apps already exist for weather routing and navigation. Sailie is for everything around them.

Most sailing apps assume you're already a confident crew mid-passage. Sailie is built for the fifteen minutes before that — a skipper handing over a boat to people who've never sailed together, at the start of a one-week charter — and for keeping a real record of every trip after.

  • One app instead of a handful, for the handover moment that actually needs it
  • Built around a real charter crew's checklist, not a generic logbook
  • Every trip saved, shareable, and searchable — not lost in last season's notes app
  • Croatia and Greece charter waters as the primary use case, not an afterthought
A skipper sailing the same waters every season

"I don't want to pay for a handful of expensive apps just to log a weekend sail. I want every trip saved in one place, easy to share with friends, and a real history to look back on — what I did last year, what I'd otherwise forget, and enough inspiration from other people's public trips to know where to go next."

Get Sailie

Open it in your browser, or install it properly

No app store account needed for either option.

🌐 Web app

Works in any modern browser, and can be installed to your home screen as a PWA — same app, no download.

Open app.sailie.boats

🤖 Android app

A native build with background GPS tracking and local notifications for the anchor alarm — installed directly, not through the Play Store yet.

Download sailie.apk

Installing the Android APK directly (not via Play Store) means your phone will ask you to confirm "install from unknown sources" for the browser or file manager you use to open it — that's normal for a direct APK install, not a warning specific to Sailie. The app checks for updates automatically once installed.

Questions

Good to know

Is Sailie a replacement for official navigation or safety equipment?

No. Sailie is for information and voyage-record purposes only — always use official charts, your vessel's certified safety equipment, and current weather sources for actual navigation and safety decisions.

Do I need an account to use it?

You can log entries locally without one. Signing in (free) adds cloud sync across devices and lets you share a trip's log with your crew.

Does the logbook count as an official ship's log?

Croatia and Greece don't mandate a paper logbook for recreational/charter vessels — Sailie's log works well as a personal record and proof of sea-mile practice, but always check your specific flag state's and charter company's requirements.

Which regions does the weather data cover?

Forecasts work worldwide via Open-Meteo, with higher-resolution regional models automatically used over the Adriatic (ItaliaMeteo ICON-2I) and Czechia/Slovakia (CHMI ALADIN). MeteoAlarm warnings cover the EU. Radar is currently Croatia-only.

Is my data private?

Yes — see the in-app Privacy Policy for exactly what's collected and how sharing works.
